The Difference Between Orthodontists and Dentists
While both orthodontists and dentists play important roles in maintaining oral health, their areas of expertise differ significantly. Dentists provide general dental care, such as cleanings, fillings, and preventive treatments, focusing on the overall health of your teeth and gums. Orthodontists, on the other hand, are specialists trained to correct misaligned teeth and jaw problems, with a focus on bite alignment, tooth movement, and facial structure.
Orthodontists complete additional years of education and specialized training beyond dental school, allowing them to diagnose and treat complex issues related to tooth and jaw alignment. This specialized knowledge is crucial for creating comprehensive treatment plans that address both cosmetic and functional concerns. Orthodontists use specialized tools like braces and clear aligners to guide teeth into their proper position, ensuring optimal results. If you’re considering straightening your teeth or addressing bite problems, seeing an orthodontist near Cedar Park, TX, ensures that you receive expert care tailored to your specific needs.
